In an interview with Hapi Journal (حابي), Ayman Abouhend, Chief Investment Officer of Significa Capital, discussed monetary policy under Egypt's economic reform programme with the IMF and a strategic vision to attract investment.
Hapi Journal (حابي) interviewed Ayman Abouhend, Chief Investment Officer of Significa Capital (the paper names the firm by its earlier name, Significa Ventures), as part of its coverage of Egypt and the IMF ahead of the post-reform phase.
The interview ran on 18 May 2025 under the headline أيمن أبو هند: وضع رؤية إستراتيجية لتوسيع قاعدة جذب الاستثمارات ("Ayman Abouhend: setting a strategic vision to broaden the base for attracting investment"), with the subhead الحكومة نفذت إجراءات كبيرة.. مثل خفض التضخم والإصلاحات التشريعية ("The government has carried out major measures, such as lowering inflation and legislative reforms").
The public part of the article makes two points on monetary policy:
- monetary policy is on track with the targets of Egypt's economic reform programme with the IMF, through monetary easing aimed at bringing inflation down;
- the Central Bank of Egypt kept a tight policy for a period, then began cutting interest rates as inflation fell.
